On Monday, January 12, 2025, the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC) launched a new awareness campaign aimed at raising awareness about the importance of verifying the authenticity of energy efficiency labels for lighting products. This campaign is conducted in collaboration with several government entities as part of the national efforts to improve energy consumption efficiency in the Kingdom. The list of partners includes the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), and the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.
This campaign is part of a series of national initiatives implemented by SEEC since 2014 under the umbrella of the “Let It Remain” campaign, which aims to embed a culture of energy conservation among various segments of society.
The current campaign will run for four weeks and focuses on encouraging consumers to use the “Ta’akad” app to verify the authenticity of energy efficiency labels for lighting products and report any violations. It also aims to educate manufacturers and traders on the importance of complying with approved technical specifications and regulations for energy efficiency.
SEEC emphasized that this initiative is a continuation of its efforts to improve energy consumption efficiency across different sectors, protect consumers, and ensure the availability of lighting products that meet approved technical specifications. This, in turn, will positively impact the organization of the local market and help achieve the national sustainability targets outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.
