Riyadh, May 14, 2025 (corresponding to Dhuʻl-Q. 17, 1446 AH)
During its 29th ordinary session of the first year of the ninth term, the Shura Council issued a resolution concerning the annual report of the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC) for the fiscal year 1445 / 1446 AH. In this resolution, the Council called on SEEC to adopt a national energy consumption intensity standard in line with international benchmarks.
The Council reached this decision after reviewing the viewpoint of the Energy and Industry Committee, presented by committee chairman and Council member Dr. Osama Aref, based on the observations and opinions expressed by members in a previous session regarding the contents of SEEC’s annual report. In its resolution, the Council also urged SEEC to encourage investment and financing in energy efficiency fields. Additionally, it recommended exploring the possibility of implementing a “pre-supply inspection system for products subject to energy efficiency standards” in coordination with relevant entities.
